Morning Star has always been a supporter of mental health initiatives in our community.  So I was delighted to be in a position to offer my photography services to the team organsing the Limerick Mental Health Breakfast Fundraiser which took place in the Castletroy Park Hotel on 19th May.

The Power of Community & Connection for Mental Health

The theme “The Power of Community & Connection for Mental Health” resonated across the Limerick business community and this was a sold out event. The atmosphere was both reflective and inspiring, as the expert panel shared their life experience and how important the role of community and connection meant for mental health. The panel discussion was hosted by Lavinia Ryan-Duggan Board Member LMHA setting the tone of the event. Among the speakers were:

David Gillick: former Irish International Athlete and Olympian and mental health advocate & regular media commentator,

Linda Ledger: CEO of St Munchins Community Centre,

Tommy Barrett: Limerick Treaty United Football Manager

Dr. Lisa O’Rourke Scott: Chair of Limerick Mental Health Association and Head of Psychology at TUS

It’s always good to use our skills to help others when we can and I was delighted that my efforts were appreciated on the day.

“As a picture can paint a thousand words, we were very grateful to Shauna from Morning Star who was so giving of her time, attention to detail and how her professionalism and expertise captured the mood of the room through photography. Shauna enabled Limerick Mental Health Association to share the story of the impact our discussion on mental health had on those who attended and bring the story to life on social media, demonstrating that Limerick business community take Mental Health seriously” remarked Lavinia Ryan-Duggan, panel host.

    Capturing the Atmosphere

It was my pleasure that my photography skills were instrumental in capturing the atmosphere during this early morning affair, and it’s wonderful that I was able to contribute in such a meaningful way. Mental health matters and Morning Star photography felt privileged to contribute by helping illuminate this message and spread it further.

It’s important to recognise the importance of these kinds of services and the impact they can have on individuals and communities.  By coming together as a community and recognising the importance of mental health, we can work towards promoting greater well-being and support for those struggling with mental health challenges. It’s paramount to continue having conversations about mental health, and to continue supporting individuals and communities in their mental health journeys. Let’s help spread the message that mental health really does matter.
